The Saskatchewan Secondary Suite Incentive (SSI)

There is a new government grant to help homeowners build a secondary suite on their property. The SSI grant program is designed to improve housing affordability by generating supplementary income for homeowners and increasing the availability of rental units in our communities.

The SSI program grants up to 35% of the cost to build a new secondary suite at an owner’s primary residence, to a max of $35,000!

A qualifying property is a new, private, self-contained residential unit within a single family detached home, and also includes detached garden and garage suites.

The SSI covers costs directly related to the construction or renovation of space that results in a new rental unit. Consts relating to renovating an existing rental unit are not eligible.
